Stephen Michael is a Missihippie whose roots have been grown in the rich mud and red clay of the old south. With his father being a pastor, music was always there for him. His father bought his first guitar from a pawnshop and Stephen taught himself to play as a child (He still owns that guitar). As a young boy, singing old hymns in little country churches had a huge impact on Stephen’s music but it was the lone AM/FM radio in the house that had the most impact on his youth. The AM channels introduced him to the great Bob Wills, Willie, Waylon, Merle and many more. The FM channel (when the weather was clear) brought the sounds of Tom Petty, Rolling Stones, The Who, CCR and all the classic rock greats. All of these artists helped shape a young Stephen. But it’s the hard times in his life, the good, the heartbreaks, loss and the amazing true love from his wife that shaped who Stephen is now and he tells his story thru his soul using his guitar as his pen. He is not trying to be a star. Stephen plays music because he believes people are hurting out there, some people just need to turn the noise off for a minute, and some people just need to fall in love with music again, one song at a time.
